Discover Cappadocia Tour
This tour first descends us to the center of the earth at Kaymakli’s underground city, then a hike down the Ihlara Valley followed by local lunch by the river. Next, we visit Selime village to see a medieval Christian monastery located conveniently on the slopes of a hill. We end the day at the top of Cappadocia, Uchisar Rock Castle with an amazing view of the region.
Driving about half an hour South from the center of Cappadocia, one can see the terrain start to change. Kaymakli is our first stop, exploring an underground city, and our guide will tell us the story of why and how underground cities were carved. The next part of the drive will see further changes in the terrain and the flora. We will hike the most spectacular part of Ihlara Valley, with our path winding back and forth across a small river, viewing rock formations rising to the sky, and willow trees all throughout. The hike ends with lunch served at a restaurant by the river in Belisirma Village. A short drive will take us to Selime village where we will explore a Christian monastery with an Islamic shrine and see villagers farming their crops and herding their sheep just down the road. After this experience, we drive to Uchisar and hike up to the top of the so-called Castle, the largest rock formation in Cappadocia that will give us enough height to see the region from one end to the other.
